Divorce and separation
The breakdown of a marriage or de facto relationship can be one of the most stressful times you’ll ever experience. If you’re contemplating a separation or divorce, I can help you with calm, confidential and sensible advice – that’s tailored to your specific situation. I can talk you through your options and the steps involved, help you minimise your uncertainty and stress, and empower you to make decisions.
I believe calm, straightforward and realistic advice – that always keeps the big picture in mind – is the best option when you’re facing the overwhelming confusion and stress that a relationship breakdown can bring.
The first steps
Through negotiation, collaborative law, and mediation, I can support you in exploring all options for resolving your matter without resorting to court proceedings.
I can also recommend any measures that are available to safeguard your interests and protect your financial position.
Making an application
You can apply for legal divorce after 12 months of separation. You’ll also need to have reached a property settlement agreement, or do so within 12 months of your divorce, otherwise you’ll lose your right to apply to the court for a property settlement.
I can prepare all necessary documents for a divorce and assist in finalising your divorce quickly and cost-effectively.
